Client:  Webber N.W Ltd, on behalf of Jaguar Land Rover

About:
Webbers N.W Ltd is a pipe fitting contractor with a permanent residence at the internationally recognised car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover.

The problem:
New spray booth ovens required new branches on the existing gas pipework. The cost of production downtime at Jaguar Land Rover's plant would have made purging their gas installation unfeasible. To avoid loss of production, Webber’s determined the best solution was hot tapping and therefore brought in  Ormond Pipework Services Ltd, their regular under pressure drilling (hot tapping) specialists.

Our solution: Firstly, ultrasonic thickness tests were undertaken to test if welding onto the pipes would be safe. After the successful test, custom made 6” on 14” and 2” on 6” saddles were welded on. To check the integrity of the welds and valves, a pressure test of 2bar was performed. Upon finding no leaks, we under pressure drilled the existing pipework and attached blanks making the new connections safe.

Specialisms involved:

Client testimony: "Ormond have done our hot tapping for the last 10 years, we trust them to always get the job done.”
