The client: Brimington Apartments, Sheffield
The problem:
A gas leak was discovered in the supply to an apartment block in South Yorkshire.
The leak was caused by corrosion on the existing steel pipework.
The leak was so severe the gas board had turned off the supply, leaving the apartment block without heating and hot water during the Christmas period.
Our solution:
Our commercial gas engineers attended the site to fix the problem.
Firstly, an indirect gas purge was undertaken in order to work safely.
Acting swiftly, Ormond fabricated a new 4” gas header and replaced it for the existing corroded one.
Once the installation was complete, a commercial gas tightness test and direct purge was undertaken.
After a successful test and purge, a Gas Safe certificate was issued, ensuring the commercial gas pipework was ready to use.
We then made sure each apartment boiler was working.
We responded to the emergency gas leak within one hour and fixed the problem within two days.
