COMMERCIAL GAS DECOMMISSIONING CASE STUDY

Gas Safe Registered

The problem:

GA Furnace Engineering had a redundant gas installation in their factory.

Although the gas was no longer in use, the client still had the expense of standing charges for their gas meter.

Therefore, to avoid standing charges, decommissioning of their gas pipework and decoupling of the gas meter was required.

Our solution:

Our commercial gas engineers used nitrogen to perform an indirect purge of the existing gas main.

We safely vented the gas to atmosphere via our specially designed purge stack.

We calculated purge times and then waited for our Gascoseeker to read 0% natural gas.

Upon the successful purge, a Gas Safe certificate was issued to confirm the decommission of the client's gas installation.

Tasks involved:

Gas purging

Gas pipework decommissioning

Gas meter removal

Gas Safe certificate
