The client: Webbers N.W Ltd are a pipe fitting contractor with a permanent residence at the internationally recognised car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover.
The problem: Webbers were contracted to make alterations to a 10” fire sprinkler system. However, a drain off point was required in order to control the escape of water from the system. Being a long-term client of Ormond Pipework, Webbers contacted us to under pressure drill the sprinkler system.
Hot tapping a new drain-off point saved on time, cost and risk as it avoided the only alternative method which was pipe freezing.
Our solution: Ormond shaped a 2” saddle and welded it on to the 10” fire main. After successfully pressure testing the new connection, Ormond attached the under pressure drill and began hot tapping the live water main. Once the hot tapping was complete, Ormond installed a safety plug to prevent leaving an open end.
