Underground MDPE Gas Pipework Case Study: Glass Recycling UK
UNDERGROUND MDPE INSTALLATION CASE STUDY
Glass Recycling UK
Client: Glass Recycling UK, Barnsley are the UK's largest independent glass recycling company and are a client of Ormond Pipework, relying on our expertise in commercial gas pipework.
The problem:
Glass Recycling UK purchased new gas fuelled plant.
To supply the new plant, their 10” underground MDPE gas pipework required an in-line tee installing.
We were brought in to install the tee and fabricate the transition piece from MDPE to steel pipework.
Our solution:
Ormond first indirectly purged (using nitrogen) the underground gas installation.
An indirect purge was necessary in order to safely use hot works on the existing pipework.
We then amended the MDPE and attached steel pipework, forming a new 10” branch.
Once the amendment was complete, a gas tightness test was undertaken.
Upon the successful test, we directly purged the underground pipework back to gas and issued a Gas Safe certificate to the client.
Tasks involved:
- Underground MDPE installation
- Steel pipework fabrication
- Gas purging
- Gas tightness test
- Gas pipework commissioning
- Gas Safe certificate
